Reflexology In Milton Keynes

Reflexology is a non-invasive holistic touch therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing. Penny trained for over a year, learning the various techniques needed to perform a reflexology session and studying Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology through Temple Academy and London City and Guilds.

Reflexology should never replace medical care, but should be used alongside it, to promote better health and overall wellbeing and balance. Reflexology aims to balance the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual aspects of a person, in order to create harmony and equilibrium. It creates a safe, calm and comforting space with one to one attention and supportive touch, within an empathetic listening environment.

The theory of reflexology is that the various organs and systems of the body correspond to specific areas on the feet, hands, face and ears. This links back to Dr William Fitzgerald's discovery of "zone therapy" in the early 1900's. He discovered that various areas on the hands and feet were linked to various organs within the same zone.

Eunice Ingham, in the 1930's further expanded this zone therapy into reflexology that we know today. Her belief was that various congestion or tension found in the foot, was mirrored to a specific part of the body.

Reflexologists cannot cure, diagnose or prescribe. Each treatment is catered to the individual and will include both physical and non-physical factors that may affect the overall wellbeing of the client.

In a typical first reflexology session, a consultation form will be completed, listing the clients' full medical history. A Data protection document will also need to be signed. Each session is confidential and the information given will be used to plan the best possible treatment for the individual. After the first appointment, the reflexologist will have a better idea of the required treatment plan.

Reflexology takes place at our Holistic Centre in Linford Wood, Milton Keynes. A session is 1 hour in duration, however the first session will be approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
